ON A MISSION Mary Hancock McLean (M.D. 1883) became a champion for those in need, both in her native St. Louis and around the world. The newspaper clip below highlights one of her overseas missions: “Here in St. Louis, a cultured woman has abandoned an income of $10,000 a year and the comforts and enjoyments of the land of her birth to become a missionary in China.”
